At the America's Cup Races!!!!

Photo journal.............................

San Francisco's pier-side is all about FOOD and the America's Cup.  The Louis Vuitton Challenge began July 2 with the contenders being Sweden, New Zealand and Italy.  Because America's Oracle won the last Cup, they did not compete in this portion of the competition.  Sweden's boat is the one that had the unfortunate accident in May where one of their sailors "Bart" Simpson was killed and the boat totaled.  Sweden basically never recovered to compete.  New Zealand defeated Italy to continue on to the CUP.  Saturday, Sept. 7th is the first day of the America's Cup, New Zealand vs. America's Oracle.  These 72-footers are the ones that "foil" - rise above the water with just their keels getting wet!  Pretty amazing!

Lots of bicycles here!
